Edible Landscaping Seed Pack 1002

$22.00

Certified Biodynamic and Organic

7 Beautiful Plants to adorn your garden and to eat! 1 small packet each of Red Basil, Rainbow Swiss Chard, Matt’s Wild Cherry Tomato, Sunflowers, Dahlias, Nasturtiums, and Burgundy Okra. We recommend starting your sunflowers outside early, they can start before the last frost, even. The rest of the plants we recommend starting 4 weeks before the last frost, and planting out after all danger of frost has past. The Sunflowers are the tallest, so they should go at the very back and used for a trellis for the tomatoes (which will grow fairly tall, and reach out everywhere.) The Okra will also grow tall if well watered. We recommend planting okra and dahlias as a mid-layer, with rainbow chard and basil next, with the nasturtiums at the front as they tend to be a bit shorter than the others, and like to sprawl out at the edges of a bed.  Pick the rainbow swiss chard’s outer leaves often to keep the plants looking their best and provide a steady stream of delicious chard to your kitchen. Basil can be pinched out regularly to increase the amount of leafy growth for eating, or left to bloom after a few harvests, as pollinators love it (you can also choose some plants to pinch out and some to leave to flower, getting the best of both worlds!) Dahlia flowers and tubers are both edible, and all parts of the Nasturtium plant are edible–flowers, leaves, which have a peppery cress flavor that’s great in salads, buds and green seeds can be pickled and used like capers! (Plus– the pollinators love both of these plants–double win!)
